A man hit and killed while trying to cross a busy Fayette County road is being remembered as a loving father.
Matthew Warman, 51, was hit by an SUV while crossing Route 51 on Monday night.
Warman’s son, Mason, tells Channel 11 he was walking to a nearby McDonalds to get a job application when the crash happened.
Mason says he was texting his dad minutes before the crash.
“I told him, I’m here for you we will figure this out together we will get a beer and hang out. Next thing I know he asked are you on your way,” Mason said.
Mason said he was heartbroken to learn what happened to his dad. Matthew’s family says he had an infectious laugh and a heart of gold.
“He was an outdoors person. He loved nature, he loved kids, he loved to talk — he would talk your ear off. There’s never going to be another him,” Mason said.
Pennsylvania State Police are investigating the crash. The driver involved was not hurt and is cooperating with authorities.
