PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh Steelers offensive coordinator Todd Haley answered questions Thursday about a report published by Deadspin.com about an alleged confrontation he had at a South Hills bar Saturday night.
According to the Deadspin report, Haley had a small confrontation with a group of fans at a bar in the South Hills.
The man who provided Deadspin with the information claimed that Haley confronted a group of people who were heckling him and asked, "Why do you have to be so gay?"
Haley denied making that comment on Thursday.
Earlier in that night, Deadspin claims Haley signed a napkin for a fan with the words, "Go Steelers. Chiefs Suck."
Haley said Thursday he was at the bar because he’s staying at the hotel while he waits to close on a house.
He also said he’s surprised the autograph is getting any attention at all.
“The guy said I’m a huge Steelers fan, so I signed it, ‘Go Steelers,’” Haley said. “Then the guy said, ‘I’m not really (a Steelers fan). I’m a Chiefs fan.’ So I wrote what I did in jest. It was funny and it was no disrespect to the Chiefs.”
