Trees downed, power lines destroyed, roads blocked after severe wind on Saturday

The wind whipped all over the region Saturday.

A tree fell on a car on the North Side. Crews spent time sawing off branches.

In Canonsburg, a tree fell on a house and had to be cleaned up by a father-son duo. A similar event in Allison Park as a tree punctured the roof line of a home.

Channel 11 crews also spotted branches and power lines down in several spots.

Some of the most significant damage happened to a cheerleading gym in McKeesport. The wind sheared off the building’s metal roof.

“It was crazy. I could hear it through the windows at my house,” Gavin Trimnal said. His sister is a cheerleader there. “My dad showed me a picture and I’m like, ‘How’d that even happen?’”

No one was inside when it happened.
