WASHINGTON, Pa. — Police said they believe a 41-year-old woman who caused a two-car crash Wednesday morning in Washington was driving while intoxicated.

The crash was reported around 9 a.m. on West Chestnut Street, officials said.

According to police, Brenda Curry tried to turn left to go into the Foodland parking lot, but slammed into the driver's-side door of a car coming from the opposite direction.

First responders had to cut the injured driver, 51-year-old Lina Giecek, out of her car and rush her to the hospital. She remains at Washington Hospital with neck and back injuries.

A witness, Ken Whitaker, said he watched as troopers told Curry to walk in a straight line.

"It was like she was surfing," Whitaker said.

According to the police report, troopers said Curry showed "multiple signs of impairment during the field sobriety testing and was arrested for DUI."

Charges against Curry are pending, and troopers are waiting for the blood analysis tests to come back.
