ROBINSON TOWNSHIP, Pa. — The owner of one of Allegheny County’s two remaining drive-in theaters presented a petition to the board of commissioners Monday evening during a public hearing in an attempt to keep the theater from being turned into a Sheetz.
“It is historical. It is an iconic landmark,” Jerry Salnoris, the owner of Twin Hi-Way in Robinson Township, said. “Another gas station is not needed. It doesn't matter who is putting it in.”

His petition had 3,700 signatures from people who want to keep the drive-in open.
However, Salnoris doesn’t own the land. The couple who does wants to sell it.
“In America, the landowner has the right to sell his or her property and develop it as they choose,” Sheetz attorney James McCormick said.
Sheetz needs council’s approval to start building. A final vote is not expected until next month.
