UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital welcomes first 2025 babies just 10 minutes into new year

PITTSBURGH — A UPMC Pittsburgh hospital has welcomed its first bundles of joy of 2025.

Genesis was born at UPMC Magee-Women’s Hospital at 12:10 a.m., making her entrance to the world just minutes after the ball dropped to welcome in the new year. The little girl weighs 6 pounds, 5 ounces and is 19 inches long.

She was born to parents Jake Pertras and Dae-Janae Hippsshelton, of New Brighton.

Another baby was also born at the same time! Shilo was born to Jerricka Belt, of Monroeville. He weighs 6 pounds, 2 ounces and 20 inches long.

Another Pittsburgh area hospital system is also celebrating a New Year baby. AHN’s first baby of 2025 in the greater Pittsburgh region, Luka, was born at 12:44 a.m.
