US News releases maternity hospital rankings

PITTSBURGH — Several Allegheny Health Network hospitals received high marks for maternity care and UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital was ranked in the top 25 of all obstetrics and gynecology hospitals in the US News & World Report’s Best Maternity Hospital care report released Tuesday.

UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital was ranked No. 24 in the nation for obstetrics and gynecology. The hospital, in Oakland, has the largest neonatal intensive care unit in the country and there are about 10,000 babies born there every year. UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital has more than 300 beds.

Receiving high-performance ratings in uncomplicated pregnancy-related maternity care were AHN West Penn Hospital, AHN Wexford Hospital and AHN Jefferson Hospital. AHN West Penn Hospital was also ranked No. 50 out of the nation’s 4,855 hospitals for obstetrics and gynecology, according to the U.S. News data.
