The local “Shriners’ Band” played and Cub Scouts handed out candy.
Randy Dunmire, the current Vandergrift fire chief, says the long history of the department has led them to success today.
“We were born back in 1897,” said Dunmire. “The Town was growing in residence, business and industry.”
The department specialized in handling fires and rescues.
