Temperatures drop into teens overnight before sun rolls in on Monday

PITTSBURGH — It will be clear and cold this evening, with temperatures falling through the 20s and the low teens tonight. Some spots will hit the single digits to kick off Monday morning. Expect a frigid start Monday morning with some sun early, but clouds increase quickly, and highs will slowly climb to the upper 30s near 40 degrees late afternoon. Winds will shift out of the south Monday afternoon with gusts up to 20 mph in the evening.

The next system will move in overnight Monday into early Christmas Eve morning with snow showers and some light rain showers mixing in at times; temperatures overnight will be near or just above the freezing mark. Some light snow accumulation is possible mainly north and east (the ridges) of Pittsburgh of around an inch or less of snow and all other locations south and west of Pittsburgh could also see a coating or dusting. Slick spots or slippery roads will be possible overnight into early Christmas Eve morning. The rest of Christmas Eve will be cloudy and cold with highs in the upper 30s.

More clouds for Christmas Day, temperatures will be around the freezing mark Christmas morning and highs will rise to near 40 degrees late in the afternoon.

A warming trend continues for the end of the week, highs will reach the mid to upper 40s with a chance of rain showers to kick off the next weekend.
