Veterans honored with annual parade in downtown Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH — Thousands filled downtown Pittsburgh Saturday morning for the annual Veterans Day Parade.

"It's awesome to come down here, and see all the little children and everybody waving their flags, and thanking these young men and women who served their country," said Bryce Feldbusch, of the Wounded Warrior Project, which had a float in this year's parade.

In addition, military and local high school bands marched from Grant Street to Commonwealth Place. The 28th Infantry Division Band also performed.

Maj. Gen. Wesley Craig, adjutant general of the Pennsylvania National Guard, served as grand marshal.

Although Veterans Day is recognized on Nov. 11, this year's parade was moved up to Saturday in hopes of enabling more veterans to participate and to draw a bigger crowd. The parade was held on a Monday last year and drew a small crowd. Last year, some veterans said they couldn't participate because they had to work.
