Vice President Kamala Harris, Gov. Tim Walz make campaign stops during Pittsburgh-area bus tour

PITTSBURGH — Vice President Kamala Harris and her vice presidential candidate, Gov. Tim Walz, made several campaign stops during a bus tour of the Pittsburgh area.

The pair traveled the battleground state all day before heading to the Democratic National Convention in Chicago.

The pair, and their spouses, made stops in Allegheny and Beaver Counties.

The region is a battleground and widely considered a must-win for the Harris-Walz ticket.

The VP greeted supporters at the airport hangar in Moon Township before hopping on a bus and heading to a phone bank in Rochester Borough. Beaver County went ‘red’ for former President Trump in 2016 and 2020.

“This campaign for us is really born out of love of country,” Harris said. “Our country is going to be as strong as our willingness to fight for it.”

Then, she and Governor Walz spoke to firefighters in Aliquippa and the Quips football team at “The Pit.”

“Somebody has to make that play and somebody has to step. You look to each side of you and you know, I trust him. Our country’s not that different,” Gov. Walz said.

The ticket was joined on the bus by “The Bus” Jerome Bettis.

The campaign then traveled to Sheetz and the Vice President talked to diners at the Moon Township Primanti Bros. before getting back on Air Force Two.

There was opposition on the road. Trump supporters lined streets and sidewalks in multiple locations.

The DNC kicks off Monday in Chicago.
