Victim killed in dump truck pedestrian accident remembered as ‘great man'

PITTSBURGH — The family of a man who was killed Wednesday in a vehicle/pedestrian accident in the South Side is mourning the loss of their loved one.

Channel 11's Jennifer Tomazic talked with 43-year-old Christopher Williams' family on Thursday, a day after he was struck and killed by a dump truck on East Carson Street.

Callahan said Williams married his late wife, Theresa, in 2007, but they had known each other since they were 14.
“I just want everyone to know he was a great man. He was married to my sister before she passed away,” said Lacresha Callahan.
Callahan said her brother-in-law was waiting at the bus stop to go to work in Mount Washington when he was hit Wednesday morning.
“He got off the bus right there on the corner, and then he’d walk across the street to catch the incline,” Callahan said.
Callahan said Williams was well-liked by anyone who met him.
“This is very hard right now. I just wanted people to know who he was. He wasn’t just someone who died on East Carson Street. He had a family and he had a great heart,” Callahan said.
Callahan said Williams was a role model in his stepdaughter’s life before he became her stepfather.
“He was a good, loving father, friend and husband,” she said.
Williams had two daughters, a stepdaughter and a grandchild, according to Callahan.
“We are going to miss him so much,” Callahan said.
Williams’ family said since he lived in New York for most of his life, he’ll be buried there. However, there will also be a memorial in Pittsburgh for him.
