BETHEL PARK, Pa. — After years of working to pivot to new uses and plans to its major malls in Pittsburgh, Indianapolis-based mall giant Simon Property Group is now ready to plug a tried and true department store into one of its anchor vacancies at South Hills Village.
Davenport, Iowa-based Von Maur Department Store, a family owned chain with 36 stores in 15 states, announced it will make its Pennsylvania debut with a new 118,000-square-foot store at South Hills Village.
The company expects to start construction on the new store this fall, taking the former Sears store that long occupied two levels at the Bethel Park shopping mall. Von Maur is shooting to open by fall 2024.
