Water main break causes some flooding at Allegheny General Hospital

PITTSBURGH — A water main break on Pittsburgh’s North Side has caused partial flooding inside and outside of Allegheny General Hospital.

Pittsburgh Water confirms there is an active outage in the area of 1200 James Street. Service is expected to be restored around noon.

A viewer video sent to Channel 11 shows flooding outside of the building in that area.

A spokesperson for Allegheny Health Network said AGH it has “implemented its water-conservation procedures to mitigate the impact of potential water pressure losses on hospital operations.”

The emergency department is operating normally, but some appointments or procedures may be moved to other locations, the spokesperson said.

The hospital said it will continues to observe its conservation procedures until the break is repaired.
