MONROEVILLE, Pa. — A water main break on Route 22 in Monroeville caused major traffic backups on Tuesday.
Traffic was backed up not just on Route 22 but also in nearby neighborhoods that drivers cut through.
Crews had to dig holes on each side of the road to make repairs.
The roadway heading west was shut down. One lane heading east was also closed.
"It's not cool at all. We're trying to get to a doctor's appointment," said driver Josh Aley, who was stuck in traffic for an hour and a half.
"We live about 10 minutes away, and we've been on the road for an hour and 45 minutes," said Nancy Wineland.
Crews stabilized the roadway temporarily and plan to fix the break at a later date.
No water service has been affected.
