VIENNA — A local woman traveled from Pittsburgh to Austria to see Taylor Swift.

Now she’s heartbroken and scared after finding out the concert was canceled because of a planned terrorist attack.

“We were really, really excited, really looking forward to the show and then we got the notification that it was canceled,” Christina McLauchlan, of Bellevue, said.

Disappointed doesn’t begin to describe how McLauchlan and her friends are feeling.

“Once the confusion settled, we really were scared,” she said.

Police arrested two men in connection to the planned attack. One of them allegedly pledged his allegiance to ISIS.

For McLauchlan, the reality of the situation is still sinking in.

“We are okay. we’re fine. we don’t feel unsafe in any way. At this point, we’re just really sad,” McLauchlan said. “It could have been a lot worse. It could have really ended in a really bad way.”

McLauchlan said she’s seen Taylor Swift perform before and is sad others won’t get to have that experience.

“There was a woman at our hotel with a 13-year-old daughter and she came up to us and was like, ‘Were you guys gonna go to the show?’ and we’re like, ‘Yeah, we’re really sad,’ and she was like ‘How do I break the news to my daughter?’” she recalled.

McLauchlan and her friends spent thousands of dollars on the trip.

While they won’t get to see their favorite artist, they’re still hoping to make the best of it before flying home on Friday.

“What I will say, something about Swifties is that we are resilient,” she said.

Police had reportedly planned to step up security for the shows after the arrests but Taylor Swift’s team made the decision to cancel.

McLauchlan says she and her friends are getting refunded for their tickets.
