WESTMORELAND COUNTY, Pa. — A Westmoreland County mother of three was accidentally struck and killed by a truck while working in her front yard Sunday.
Investigators said the accident happened Sunday afternoon in Salem Township at Amy Kaufman’s Story Road home.
State police said Kaufman, 41, was accidentally hit by a truck and have not released any other details about the incident.
Kaufman’s friends described her as a “super mom” and said she was a single mother whose life revolved around her children.
“Amy lived and breathed for her children. Everything she did was for her kids,” Kaufman’s friend Amanda Reese said. “She was always willing to go above and beyond for her kids.”
Kaufman juggled motherhood, a full-time career and still volunteered for several organizations.
“Amy was part of the project Share the Joy organization,” Sandy Cullen said. “She helped us shop and wrap. She helped with all the fundraisers.”
A fund has been set up for Kaufman’s three children.
The fund is called the FAHA Foundation and checks can be mailed to Sandy Cullen, 248 Trees Mill Road, Greensburg, Pa., 15601.
“We’ll always be here for them,” Cullen said. “We’re going to help them every step of the way.”
