Winter Weather Advisory expires; pockets of freezing rain possible in some areas

PITTSBURGH — Pockets of freezing rain are expected to develop by mid-morning as rain moves into near 32-degree air. The bigger concern will be for the areas along and north of 422 and especially east into the mountains...although a brief glaze is possible even around Pittsburgh.

For most of the lower elevations, a transition to plain rain should take place by late-morning, with freezing rain lingering much of the day over Somerset County and Garrett County, Maryland. Waves of showers will continue into this evening before we gradually dry out overnight.

We’ll get a break in the rainfall early Monday, but a fast-moving front will bring us more steady rain during the afternoon and early evening. We’ll trend cooler for mid to late week, with another wave of rain showers expected early Wednesday.
