SHARPSBURG, Pa. — A 71-year-old woman was stabbed in Sharpsburg on Tuesday afternoon.
Crews were called to the 1600 block of Middle Street at 2 p.m., Allegheny County police said.
Once on scene, first responders found the woman who had been stabbed 17 times.
She was taken to a local hospital and is in critical but stable condition.
Police said Victor Cute, 69, was taken into custody at the scene.
Neighbors said Cute and the victim were a friendly couple and mostly kept to themselves. They also told Channel 11 the couple was caring and they never heard arguing coming from the home.
Cute is facing charges of aggravated assault and criminal attempted homicide.
Allegheny County homicide detectives are handling the investigation.
