MUNHALL, Pa. — It’s been nine months since Courtney Wood was shot in her knee and it was all caught on surveillance video. She’s handed that evidence to police, but still, no one has been charged.
“It’s kind of fight or flight. It’s one of those things where it’s like you’re either going to die or you’re not,” Wood said.
Wood is talking about moments that were caught on her ring camera back in March.
“I was taking out my trash and someone in a ski mask came up and approached me and demanded money,” Wood said. “I dropped the garbage bags, he pulled up the gun, tried shooting me in the chest. I grabbed the gun. And then he missed that time, and ended up getting me the second time in the leg.”
A scar is a permanent reminder of what happened that night.
“I’ve had two knee surgeries since then. I had a bone graph put in. But there’s no telling, there are going to be other surgeries as well,” Wood said.
Wood hasn’t been able to work since the shooting
“It’s a constant thing now that I’m going to have to live with for the rest of my life. The pain and suffering and everything else,” Wood said.
Channel 11 asked Allegheny County police where the investigation stands. A spokesperson said it’s still an active case and if anyone knows anything, to call them.
“Weeks turn into months and they keep moving the field goal post backwards, god forbid he does that to someone else?” Wood said.
She says investigators have told her the lab is backlogged.
