BRADDOCK, Pa. — The Woodland Hills School District appointed a new superintendent Wednesday.
Dr. Joe Maluchnik comes to Woodland Hills from the Wilkinsburg School District, where he served as Interim Superintendent and later as Superintendent for the past four years.
Maluchnik succeeds Dr. Daniel Castagna, who left the district earlier in the year.
“We are excited to welcome Dr. Maluchnik to the Woodland Hills School District,” Board President Ms. Terri Lawson said. “We’re looking forward to working with him to provide the resources and tools our students, staff, and families need to thrive in the classroom and beyond.”
“I’m deeply humbled, and I’m honored for this opportunity to be the next Superintendent of the Woodland Hills School District,” Dr. Maluchnik said. “I look forward to partnering with you on this journey. I’m very excited to work with the students, the staff, the board, and the community members to help this district continue to grow.”
The district said as superintendent at Wilkinsburg, Dr. Maluchnik’s priorities focused on implementing new curriculum, enhancing student resources and supports and improving individual and districtwide academic performance.
“We have to give our kids an opportunity to be creators and innovators in the world that they’re going to face,” Dr. Maluchnik said. “I promise you I will work diligently to equip our students and to equip our staff with the tools that they need to excel beyond the classroom, to be career ready, to be college ready, and to be work ready.”
