PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh Manchester Elementary was placed on lockdown Friday after shots were fired less than a block from the school, Channel 11’s Rick Earle reported.

The school, located on Manhattan Street on Pittsburgh’s North Side, was on lockdown for approximately an hour. The lockdown was lifted just after 4 p.m.

Police said at least 15 shots were fired on North Franklin Street, striking homes.

Felicia Jackson said she was picking up her child when she heard the shots.

“(I) heard shots fired, and I started running to go get (my son),” she said. “There was a lot of (shots).”

No victims were found in the vicinity, but investigators said they did recover a gun.
