CARRICK, Pa. — Police are investigating a shooting in Carrick that took the life of a father Sunday.
Authorities said Lamar Pondexter, 36, was killed in the shooting, which happened about 2 a.m. Sunday near Nobles Lane and Denise Street.
According to investigators, Pondexter was shot at point-blank range. They said he was found by a neighbor.
Pondexter’s son, Naquon Luster, was inside the apartment he shared with his father, not far from the scene of the shooting.
“I remember hearing, I just, I was lying down, then I just heard a big gunshot,” said Luster.
He said police came to his door to tell him that his father had been shot and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Pondexter’s father, Walter Pondexter, said his son “was an outgoing person. You know, loving, smiling, gentle person, helpful person, very nice kid, you know.”
