LIGONIER, Pa. — Authorities say a wrong-way collision between a tractor-trailer and a car in Ligonier Township that left one person dead was deliberate.

The crash happened just before midnight on Monday on Route 30 near Route 259, which is not far from Idlewild and Soak Zone.

Police Chief Michael Matrunics said 39 year-old James Fillman

had gotten into an argument with his wife , said he was going to kill himself and drove into the tractor-trailer.

Fillman was pronounced dead at the scene. The truck driver was treated for minor injuries at the scene.

Hazmat crews were called to clean up about 800 gallons of diesel fuel leaking from the crash.

The scene was not far from the area where a Ligonier Township police officer was killed last year in a wrong-way crash.

Lt. Eric Eslary died in May when a wrong-way driver slammed into his patrol vehicle. Eslary's K-9 partner, Blek, was injured.
