A man jumped over a bank counter and took nearly $2,000 in cash before a getaway driver sped away, police said.
The robbery was reported at 11:17 a.m. Thursday at the Dollar Bank on Mt. Lebanon Boulevard in Castle Shannon.
Allegheny County police said the man entered the bank, jumped over the counter and took approximately $1,900 in cash before leaving the bank and getting into a getaway vehicle, where a second person waited.
The vehicle, possibly a 1990s model Pontiac Bonneville or Buick Riviera, was last seen traveling along Cook Road toward the transit station.
The robber is described as a stocky white man, possibly in his 30s, at least 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighing more than 200 pounds. He was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, a red plaid jacket, blue jeans and black sneakers with white trim. He wore gloves on his hands and his face was partially covered with a mask and sunglasses.
The second person who remained in the vehicle was described only as white.
The Allegheny County police, the FBI and Castle Shannon police are investigating.
