"It starts recording without any light but, after 10 seconds, the light comes on and he was startled — him and his friends," the victim, who asked to remain anonymous, told KOIN-TV.
The woman’s neighbor noticed her car door was open Friday morning and alerted her.
The dashcam must have worked because nothing was taken from her car, KOIN reported.
Other residents told the news station that car break-ins have been a problem in the neighborhood and they hope the dashcam image leads to an arrest.
The recording is now in the hands of police, who are still working to identify the surprised man in the video.
