Chief Tyree Davis, Officer Jerry Shoemaker and Detective Teo Antunez Jr. responded to the residence, where they found “a badly decomposed body,” according to the department.

In a statement, Davis said Nellie Hudgins had died “several months before the daughter notified family members of their mother’s passing.” Davis said Donna Hudgins “did not report the death because she was curious and wanted to see the stages of death.”

Family members told WRAL every time they tried to see Nellie Hudgins, Donna Hudgins would tell them she was sleeping or busy.

Donna Hudgins was issued a $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 7, 2018.
