PITTSBURGH — The Pennsylvania Turnpike is set to raise the speed limit to 70 mph starting in May.
Turnpike officials conducted a study a few weeks ago on a certain stretch of highway, determining that raising the speed limit did not make a difference when it came to crashes.%

Areas on the turnpike that are posted at 65 mph will be raised to 70 mph.
All areas that are marked 55 mph, including construction zones, tunnels and toll plazas, will remain the same.
