PITTSBURGH — The Penguins had to call up the goalie for their ECHL affiliate Wheeling Nailers after Casey DeSmith, who was expected to join the team in Canada, lost his passport, according to team officials.
Casey DeSmith lost his passport so the Penguins call up Emil Larmi for tonight’s game in Montreal.

Goaltender Emil Larmi, 23, is in his first professional season in North America after signing as a free agent in June.

Casey DeSmith, who was expected to join Pittsburgh, was unable to due to a lost passport.

The Penguins are scheduled to take on the Montreal Canadiens at 7:00 p.m. Saturday. Team officials said they wanted to rest the leading goalie for the Penguins, Tristan Jarry, and therefore he was not going to be making the trip across the border.

Team officials said they also recalled Thomas Di Pauli from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton after Jake Guentzel was placed on injured reserve.
