The announcement was made Friday during a news conference at the Consol Energy Center, where the team will play its home games.

The Power, which will be co-owned by Steelers Hall of Famer Lynn Swann, is scheduled to open its eight-game home season in April.

Ticket prices start at $15 for a single-game ticket and go as high as $1,400 for premium, lower-level season tickets.

Swann said the team already has a surefire way to get fan support.

"I think the Pittsburgh Power is a great name," Swann said. "It will be black and gold, and we'll tap into that excitement and fan base here in Pittsburgh."

Players, coaches and staff have yet to be picked or signed.

Other owners include Matt and Lance Shaner of Shaner Investments. The Shaners also own the Marriott City Center.

"We are very excited to bring this exciting and fan friendly brand of professional football to the community," Matt Shaner said. "Pittsburgh has a tradition of great fan support for all its teams, and we are confident the city will embrace what will be an entertaining team in this great arena."

Consol Energy Center is also home to the Pittsburgh Penguins and will host numerous concerts and events.
