PITTSBURGH — Ninjas may be a thing of the past, but thanks to NBC, “American Ninja Warriors” still exist and they are running amok in Pittsburgh for the taping of the hit show this week.
Adam “A-Train” Mihm is an American Ninja Warrior and will be a two-time contestant on the show. Previously, Mihm made it to the qualifying round in St. Louis.

“It’s a pretty awesome experience with the cameras and the lights and everything,” Mihm said.
Once a hobby, Mihm began strictly for exercise. He picked up rock climbing at a Columbus gym, where he was introduced to ninja warrior events by peers.
“From there, it just totally consumed my life,” said Mihm. “I started building obstacles in my basement and my lovely wife is okay with it … I think.”
Mihm trains five days a week between the gym and his basement, where he has over 10 obstacles that are smaller replicas of the ones seen on “American Ninja Warrior.”
Even though he’s making his second appearance on the show, he has made it clear that he has one goal in mind: making it to show’s final destination.
“The final stop for me this year is Las Vegas. I’m not stopping until I get there,” Mihm said.
Mihm, a native of Collier Township, is a graduate of Chartiers Valley High School. He actually sees himself more as an academic than an athlete, earning summa cum lade honors as a graduate from Kettering University in Flint, Michigan.
He now lives with his wife in Dublin, Ohio, where he works as a mechanical engineer on Honda’s research and development team.
Mihm will compete on "American Ninja Warrior" in Swissvale on Friday and Saturday evening. For more information about the show, visit its website.
