PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Steelers handed off the keys to an Army veteran in need on Monday.
It was a welcome home, four months in the making for Army Sgt. Michelle Satterfield.
“It’s perfect,” Satterfield said. “I couldn’t think of anything better than this.”
The day started off at McKeesport High School as students cheered on as they house they built was handed off to its new owner.
About 40 to 60 students in the school’s career and technical program built the house from the ground up.
“We have everything finished by the flooring and painting,” said Michael Locke. “It was nice to see it come together and it looks beautiful.”
From there, a motorcade helped deliver Michelle and Hunter to White Oak, where a large American flag was pulled back to reveal their new home.
The family said they are excited to get settled in.
“It’s really nice to have something that’s my own,” Satterfield said. “I just can’t thank everybody enough. It’s amazing.”
