Police: Man Chased, Shot At, Kidnapped In Scottdale

SCOTTDALE, Pa.,None — Police are stil investigating a case that involved a chase, shooting and kidnapping in Scottdale.

State police said Donald Overly, 36, was chased down by men in a green SUV Thursday afternoon.

Overly told police that the men shot at his car during the chase. Investigators said Overly's car broke down on Morgan Road.

Overly said the men then kidnapped him and drove him a short distance before releasing him.

Police put out an all-points bulletin alert for an older model green Ford Expedition. Police said they are still looking for three suspects, including two men in their 30s and one man in his 60s.

A man painting his home on Morgan Road on Thursday said he heard shots fired. Tiny King said he heard at least six shots before the shooting ended.

"I was painting my garage door and I heard a bunch of shots. It sounded like an automatic," said King.

Neighbor Kelly Bell said her husband came home from work and saw Overly's car parked in front of their home. He said he could smell anitfreeze. The Bells said police told them the car was involved in the shooting.

"This is like drive-by stuff, this is like downtown Pittsburgh stuff. We're not used to this," said Bell. "We don't know if anybody got hurt or hit or what!"

Investigators said Overly has not told them how the chase began. Anyone with information should contact police.
