Police searching for suspect after deadly shooting at Westmoreland Co. apartment

ARNOLD, Pa. — One person is dead after a shooting in Westmoreland County Thursday evening, and police are now searching for the shooter.

Police were investigating the scene along 17th Street in Arnold where officials said a man, Michael Coover, Jr., 33, was shot and killed just before 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Coover was found inside an apartment in the 200 block. The Westmoreland County Coroner’s Office said he was shot multiple times.

Chopper 11 was over the scene when police blocked off the streets near Riverside Drive.

TribLIVE reported that police have issued an arrest warrant for Mario Gatti, who is still on the run and considered armed and dangerous. His warrant is for one charge of criminal homicide.
