PITTSBURGH — The Center of Life is celebrating 20 years of service to the Hazelwood and Pittsburgh communities.

With music, dance and speakers, Friday’s virtual celebration honors the center’s 20 years of service.

Pastor Tim Smith founded the Center of Life in 2001 to promote financial literacy, education and the arts.

Some programs use art and music to inspire education.

“We try to connect the natural talent with education, so that natural talent becomes a skills so they can do what they need to do the way they need to do it,” Smith said.

Since the pandemic, the center has taken on new challenges, including distributing more than 200,000 meals and nearly 600 school supply packets to neighbors.
