Rain/snow mix overnight with scattered snow showers and blustery conditions on Tuesday

PITTSBURGH — Grab your umbrella before you head out this evening as scattered showers will be moving through.

It will turn a lot colder tonight with temperatures dropping to the low 30s with a rain/snow mix developing overnight.

Look for the chance for a few snow showers Tuesday morning with snow showers becoming more likely during the afternoon. Watch for reduced visibility in the heaviest snow bands. Winds will be strong with gusts up to 35 mph at times.

If you’re heading out for New Year’s Eve celebrations, plan on wearing a big coat. It will be cold and gusty with the chance for a few snow showers. Drive carefully as snow may begin to stick Tuesday into Wednesday.

An early outlook is for cities like Butler and north, along with the ridges, to see about 1 to 2 inches of snow with isolated higher totals of 3 inches. Other locations will generally see less than 1 inch of snow through Wednesday.
