ON THIS DAY: January 10, 2004, Bake-Line Group bankruptcy closes East Liberty bakery

The East Liberty bakery closed shortly after Bake-Line Group declared bankruptcy in 2004. Shadyside-based Walnut Capital and Pittsburgh’s Urban Redevelopment Agency purchased the former Nabisco bakery in 2007 and transformed the site into Bakery Square, which has become a technology hub in the city.
