Ross Park Mall store evacuated due to reports of smoke

ALLEGHENY COUNTY, Pa. — The J.C. Penney store at Ross Park Mall in Allegheny County was evacuated Wednesday after crews were called when people reported smelling smoke near the store’s salon.

Firefighters told Channel 11 News that a power outage had occurred in the area, and the smell was coming from an emergency generator.

Crews said there was no fire, and the evacuation was done as a precaution.
