Emergency responders searched both banks of the Allegheny River in Freeport overnight after several disturbing reports from residents.
Channel 11 News heard from several residents who said they heard screams for help loud enough to be heard in their homes with the TV on, and then a splash. One witness called the screams "gut-wrenching."
However, firefighters, police and river rescue personnel searched for hours with boats and even a helicopter but found nothing.
The search was called off, and firefighters said Monday morning that it will not resume without concrete evidence.
