Steelers QB Roethlisberger: ‘Not the same' playing Pats without Tom Brady

PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger says he thinks the Week 1 matchup between the Steelers and the New England Patriots won't be the same with Tom Brady not involved.

“If he’s not out there, it’s not the same,” Roethlisberger said.

Roethlisberger jokingly asked after Tuesday’s organized team activities if everyone is sure Brady won’t be in the lineup on Sept. 10.

“I have a lot of respect for him on the football field and some of the unbelievable things that he’s done. I guess we’ll wait and see what’s finally going to happen,” Roethlisberger said.

The league has not yet heard Brady’s appeal of his 4-game suspension for his alleged involvement in the Deflategate controversy.

“He’s a guy, I’ve said for a long time, he’s the best in the business,” Roethlisberger said. “He proved it again last year winning his fourth.”

The NFL's season opener will already be missing some big names, including Steelers running back Le'Veon Bell.

Another headline coming from Tuesday’s OTAs was All-Pro wide receiver Antonio Brown’s reaffirmed commitment to the team.

Brown was on the field with the rest of his teammates and brushed aside questions about whether he planned to sit out the activities and minicamp in search of a new deal.

Brown led the NFL with a team-record 129 receptions in 2014. He downplayed the idea he was unhappy with the six-year $43-million contract he signed in 2012.

The 26-year-old Brown promised he will be at Saint Vincent College when the Steelers begin training camp in July and that any contract issues are for agent Drew Rosenhaus to figure out.
