Stink Bug Invasion: How Sunflowers Can Help, Cause Problem

PITTSBURGH,None — Research from leading universities has found that a common plant attracts stink bugs.

Researchers at universities across the country, including Penn State and Ohio State, are trying to find out what attracts the pesky insects. The research showed that stink bugs love sunflowers.

In several separate studies, the bugs we reported to have eaten the seeds in the flower.

Experts said its best to plant sunflowers far away from your home and garden to detract them from getting inside. The research found that stink bugs are also attracted to many crops including pepper, citrus, cucumbers and tomatoes.
