WASHINGTON, DC — A student art project in a Washington, DC area high school is causing a lot of controversy. The display shows a police officer standing next to a man with his hands up and bullet holes with blood stains that form the image of an American flag.

The project was created after a students were told to create an image that expresses what social justice means to them. The school later removed the display after images of it circulated on social media. The district did not want to offend law enforcement officers saying in part that they "strive to foster a civil and respectful culture."
