WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, Pa. — At least one person has died in a house fire Thursday morning in Washington Township, Westmoreland County, authorities said.

The fire was reported about 9 a.m. on Mamont Drive.

The coroner identified the victim as 74-year-old James Indovina.

Channel 11's Melanie Marsalko spoke to one of the medics who ran into the building because fire crews had not yet arrived.

"We screamed in a couple times to see if anybody would answer us back and nobody answered," Darrick Gerano said.

They found Indovina laying on the floor inside the house. After pulling him out, the medics started CPR, but it was too late.

“It makes it rough. It’s a difficult situation dealing with your own emotions and then helping the family through their emotions so it’s tough all the way around," Gerano said.

Fire investigators said the cause is still under investigation, but the entire house is a loss.
