The victim was able to wrestle the knife away from his alleged attacker. When alleged attacker took off, the victim called 911 to his home.

The victim's nephew, who asked not to be identified, said he might know what led up to the stabbing, but is not sure.

"I guess he had put some stuff on Craigslist to sell. I’m not sure exactly how it this would be related to that, I don’t know," he said.

When police arrived at the scene, the victim gave them a description of his attacker. Officers found Johnson at the intersection of Bower Hill Road and Sylvandell Drive and determined he was the suspect in the attack.

“His intention was not only to injure the victim but then to steal something from the victim as well," Chief Lauth said,

Johnson is charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault, robbery and possessing instruments of a crime. The victim is in stable condition at UPMC Mercy.
