TRENDING NOW:

Harold Kahl, who lives across the street from where the crash occurred, didn't realize the crash had happened until his daughter got home from work about 6:30 a.m. and saw the car in the woods, he said.

"The guy on the passenger side was the one that was calling for help," Kahl said. "The driver was slumped over the wheel. And he wasn't moving."

They assisted the man, who had been trapped in the car for hours with his phone out of reach, while calling police.

"He asked us to call 911 and he asked for a blanket and some water which we got for him," Kahl said. "He had asked my daughter to get his cell phone, which had fallen to the floor of the car, so she reached in and got his cell phone and he called his mother."
