TRAFFORD, Pa. — Two men were burned while trying to steal copper in Trafford, emergency dispatchers said Monday morning.
A spokesperson for Duquesne Light said the incident happened at a substation at the Trafford Commerce Center. Power crews were called for reports of a power outage when they discovered the substation had been tampered with.
Officials said the substation is live, something they might not have realized when they tried to steal the copper.
Police said the men were gone before power crews arrived at the substation, but they showed up at Forbes Hospital in Monroeville in need of treatment.
The men will be charged, police said.
