5 things to know about UPMC doctors arrested, charged

Two local doctors were arrested Friday.

Dr. Omar Almusa, 45, of Shadyside and Marios Papachristou, 43, of Allison Park, are charged with felony conspiracy and prohibited acts.

  1. Both doctors are radiologists with medical licenses in Pennsylvania that expire at the end of the year.
  2. Almusa is listed as a doctor on the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center website. Papachristou is not, but is listed as an associate professor at the University of Pittsburgh.
  3. Both were arrested by UPMC police.
  4. Almusa attended Michigan State College of Medicine, Papachristou went to University of South Florida Medical School.
  5. Their next court hearing is March 15.
