MONROEVILLE, Pa. — COVID-19 vaccinations will be given to 5,100 people Tuesday at the Monroeville Convention Center.

Allegheny Health Network and the Monroeville Chamber of Commerce teamed up for the mass vaccination clinic, appointments for which have all been filled. There are no walk-ins.

Vaccination appointments were made available to people who fall into Phase 1A of Pennsylvania’s vaccine rollout. The Pfizer vaccine is being used at the clinic.

People who get their first shot on Tuesday will return for their second dose on March 30.

Tuesday’s clinic comes a day after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced new guidelines for people who are fully vaccinated -- meaning they got their final dose at least two weeks ago.

Under the new guidelines, fully vaccinated people can visit others who have been fully vaccinated and not wear a mask or social distance. They can also visit unvaccinated people without masks if the person they are visiting is at low risk for COVID-19.

Fully vaccinated people who are exposed to a COVID-19-positive person do not need to quarantine if asymptomatic.

The CDC said it’s unlikely fully vaccinated people spread the virus; however, they should still wear a mask when out in public.
