ALLEGHENY COUNTY, Pa. — Nearly 600 new COVID-19 cases were reported Friday in Allegheny County, the highest number seen since January.
According to the Allegheny County Health Department, there were 586 new cases, 393 of which were confirmed cases out of 1,583 PCR tests. The remaining 193 cases were probable cases.

Nineteen of the positive tests are more than a week old.
Friday’s newly reported cases ranged in age from 6 months to 92 years, with a median age of 35 years.
Nine new deaths were reported Friday. One person was in their 40s, four people were in their 60s, one person was in their 70s, two people were in their 80s and one person was in their 90s. One of the deaths was associated with a long-term care facility.
The dates of death ranged from March 4 to March 21. Since March 14, 2020, there have been 83,811 cases of COVID-19 in Allegheny County residents, 5,570 hospitalizations and 1,759 deaths.
