BEAVER FALLS, Pa. — An old train station in Beaver Falls caught on fire around noon Monday with flames so bad, nearby roads have to be closed down.
Thick, heavy smoke could be seen for miles.
The Beaver County Fire Chief Mark Stowe told Channel 11 that the fire was deliberately set and they are investigating it as an arson.
Abandoned since 1986, there’s not electricity or running water.

The station sits off the road in the area of 7th and 8th streets, which were shut down as firefighters fought the fire from the ground and in ladder trucks.
“There’s no hydrants down in this area so we had a relay pump to get water to the scene and access due to it being overgrown and a lot of dumping – illegal dumping – that’s gone on in the north end of the building. (It) made it difficult to enter the building,” Stowe said.
Stowe said there have been a number of fires in the building over the years.
The city is going to make the owner clean up the property, Stowe said.
